Change Nameservers of your Domain Name

Once you have bought a domain name and a web hosting account before you upload your website files to your web hosting account, you will have to change the nameservers of your domain name to your web hosting providers name servers supplied in your web hosting welcome email. The nameservers generally look like ns1.yourwebhost.com and ns2.yourwebhost.com. You will have to change the default name servers of your domain name to those of your web hosting account to point your domain name to your web host’s DNS. To change the name servers of your domain name all you have to do is login to your domain dashboard and select or click the domain name you wish to change the nameservers to your web host’s namservers and look for “Edit Nameservers” or “Change Nameservers” like buttons or links by clicking which you will get to the screen to change the nameservers. Once there, all you have to do is delete the present nameservers and replace them with the name servers of your web host. After you have changed the name servers, it will take upto 24 hours to 48 hours for the new nameservers to take effect. This process is called domain propagation. Once the domain name is propagated you can then install or upload your website’ files to your web host. One other thing is if the domain name is the root domain name of your web host, then it’s OK. But if the domain name is an addon domain name, you will then have to add your domain as an addon domain name in your web hosting account control panel before you will be able to upload the files to its website.
